It is a huge honour for me to be new team captain. I will try to be a captain like Raul Entrerrios was, without copying him. But I got my head clear and I am willing to do the job as best as possible.
We have full respect towards Slovenia. They are good individuals with quality and make a great team. We are not coming with a white flag to the match. Even though the odds are maybe more on their side, we will give our best to put on a surprise.
The first match is always special. We only had one preparation match, but it was a good one for us. We all know that the first match of the tournament is not an easy one. For us it’s all about good preparation.
There are no outsiders and no favourites in these days. Sure, France are Olympic champions, they are really good players, but with the support of our fans, here in Szeged, I’m sure we have everything it takes to make a great game. We will be going for the win.
A lot of players have never played the EHF EURO, which makes our task even more difficult. The chemistry does not come easy, it is not as simple as a recipe when you are cooking. There is a lot of work behind this, collective experience and it makes every competition different. It takes time and a lot of work.
